ARTIST’S
STATEMENT Born 1942 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, I am an artist who loves to paint landscapes and seascapes. Art training was achieved through personal studies, persistence and the knowledge passed down by the masters of contemporary art. By nature I am a highly independent and self-determined individual and, this autonomy is reflected in my artistic style through the use and application of clear color values that are uniquely my own. The most striking features of my particular style are a distinctive use of colour and light providing a great range of mixes that serve to accentuate the internal colour relationships within each of my paintings. Although providing for a family as well as, concentrating on a highly successful career at the corporate executive levels took a large amount of my time, nonetheless from the age of fifteen my early interest in the visual arts was never abandoned. I kept in close touch with the arts through studies and painting whenever I had any spare time. I have always been struck by the sheer beauty of landscapes, especially the majesty of mountains and vitality of seas. These became the very elements that fuel my artistic ambition and motivate me to explore and translate the richness and beauty of colour in nature through my landscapes and seascapes paintings.
